I just spoke with Xiyun Yang from Washington Post and conveyed thanks for covering a detailed article. She expressed that there is attention being drawn by many quarters including political for "Skilled LEGAL Immigrants".
Also we need to emphasize & communicate is the "increased fees" (almost doubled in many cases) for all USCIS services effective end of this month (July 30). Is this the penalty to be legal ?
The rallys and campaigns should emphasize this important detail too. This is huge money and not fair to the amount of service that is being currently provided.

What are your comments guys ?

Since the early days of this blog, I've chastised immigration bureaucrats who use specious reasoning to treat small businesses petitioning for employment-related immigration benefits more harshly than their large-cap counterparts. The latest assault on fairness and reason is reflected in a trend affecting several categories of employment-based visas -- the H-1B (Worker in a Specialty Occupation), the L-1 nonimmigrant (Intracompany-Transferee Manager or Executive) and the EB1-3 (Multinational Manager or Executive). An example of this trend is a recently released EB1-3 decision (decided May 1, 2009) of the USCIS Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) denying an immigrant visa petition for a multinational...

yes. Select it, then check out the left hand panel. I believe that "layout" will have a check box which says, "show object" or something similar. This is what you use to make an object transparent.
This will only work on peices of a grouped object... not the whole group.. keep this in mind.

Hi,
I have been doing a lot of research about this online and have even heard from friends that if you transfer your H1 to H4 and apply again for H1, your new H1 application is not counted against the H1B cap. How true is it? Has some one done this before ? Is there any risk involved? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Guys, Due to all this mess up with dates I decided to file 485/EAD/AP myself and for my wife on 6/29; so filled up everything, attached copies, photos and what not and FedExed all to USICS on June 30 to hit them on 2nd July.
Now I see that by mistake I have put my SSN on my wife's 765. She has been always on H4, never had SSN.
1. What can be the consequence of this mistake?
2. Should I try to pull it back from USICS and submit again (if it's at all possible)
Thanks,
Rohit

Below are the 2 listed jobs.. I am currently working as ABC for XXX comp... I have been working for more than 3 years.. They are planning to file my GC soon..
I know for a fact that you cannot count current employer exp for GC. If i start working for the same employer on XYZ is it more than 50% different in role so i can count my 3 years experience when applying my GC ??

you should consult your attorney on this. Don't expect a public answer from IV members on this issue.

This is not tied to immigration but to the savings of some sort...
If this is a dupe post - please ignore.
This should certainly help if the deal is inked and save H1 and L1 holders some money.

Excerpt:
If India and the US ink the deal, tens of thousands of Indians working in the US on H1B or L1 visas need not contribute to the US social security schemes and US expatriates need not contribute to an Indian provident fund.

U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued instructions on making inquiries with the agencys four Service Centers. Customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups should follow this guidance when inquiring about case related issues. This new process standardizes customer service and streamlines processing of customer inquiries at USCIS Service Centers. The step-by-step instructions are as follows:
Step 1: National Customer Service Center (NCSC) can be contacted at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC can assist customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups with case related inquiries. Please get your Receipt No. the NCSC please have available your receipt number, alien registration number, type of application filed and date filed. We recommend you note down:
-The name and/or id number of the NCSC representative
- The date and time of the call
- Any service request referral number, if a service referral on a pending case is taken.
