Tonight I saw British-born journalist Richard Wolffe on both CNN and on his regular spot with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. He's usually commenting on the day's American political news, but he's now also promoting his new book, Renegade. Wolffe covered the entire campaign of President Obama, from the day he announced he was running until Election Day 2008. He was a senior writer at Newsweek at the time and now writes for Tina Brown's The Daily Beast.

Hi,
I know that this is not a "Green card related" question but an important question that I hope someone will answer. I am planning to use EAD after my I140 approval and jump to consulting business. I have thought about Self-employment but it sounds like it is risky. Are there any good consulting companies which charge very less percentage for having me as an employee on EAD. I hope that company can send AC21 and continue my GC processing.
Thanks,

My sister filed 1-130 for me in 1997. I am currently living in the US on an H1B visa and the I-130 has been approved. As requested by the NVC, my sister submitted her affidavit of support (I-864) and paid the immigrant visa fee. However, I recently found out that I should have filed I-485 instead. I was advised that I cannot file the DS-230 because I live in the US. Is this true? Which could/should I do, DS-230 or I-485? Is there a way to get the immigrant visa fee returned?
I will appreciate any advice.

Immigrants don't pose any security threat as described by you. Below is a link for Citizens to watch who stole the Nuke secrets. Alleged Contractor is probably a Native born American citizen.

So moral of story is don't accuse immigrants for everything.:D

Hello.
I will be needing a new re-entry permit(i-131) while renewing my green card and i was wondering if it was possible.
I am going to study back in my home country for 4yrs.
first 2yrs(2010-2012), i am going back with reentry permit.
after 2yrs(2012), i am going back to USA for 6months to renew my green card(going to expire in 2012) and reapply for a new reentry permit.
If i wont have time to get my new green card, i am possibly thinking of going back to my home country for 5 months and going back to USA for 2 wks (to retain green card status) and again, going back to my homecountry for 3 months.
Would going back and forth to my homecountry and USA will affect me from losing my green card?
Any advise will be helpful. Thank you!

Wow! Congratulations to Newcomers High School in Long Island City, Queens, New York which is ranked #6 in US News and World Report's list of the 100 best high schools in America and tops among the 12 public schools that made the list. Newcomers is a school which only accepts students who arrived in the country within the past year. Nearly 22,000 high schools were evaluated for the report and the rankings factored in test scores and performance on Advanced Placement tests.

Hi,
I am currently on H1 visa while I have my wife here with me on H4 Visa. Currently my I-140 application is under processing. My wife is about to apply for a job which will result her H4 visa to be converted into H1. Could anybody suggest whether this will have any effect on our application status?
Thanks in Advance.

South African-born Dave Matthews, the lead singer of rock band the Dave Matthews Band is having a great year with his most recent album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King nominated this evening for a Grammy for Album of the Year. I am not sure if it was posted before, the immigrant visa fee will go up to $400 from $380 effective January 1, 2008.
Also, Bombay and Madras consulates switched to NVC appointment processing (NVC takes over the scheduling of immigrant visa appointments). Delhi and Calcutta are still standard processing posts, but expect them to be converted in the near future as well.
Chinese, Japanese, Australian and some other (mostly Asian) consulates still follow standard processing, but expect them to be converted in 2008 as well.
They convert consulates without any notice to the public, so always check here before sending in DS-230 and supporting documents:

Hello,
It has been over two years I got my EAD, and I am also on H1 and my H1 is valid up to May, 2011. Now, if I want to switch to a new employer, I want to know if there are any complications...I read that we can always switch to new employer and can still retain the priority dates. Is it true? What is NOID? Is it possible for the old employer to revoke my I-485? or can they do anything that affects my Green Card status or the legal status in the country?
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
