140 reached NSC on July 11.
Receipt date is July 17, attorney says they got it today, July 24.
So for those at NSC who filed within a day or two of me, mght be better to hold off for a couple of days before filing 485 with the colored sheet which will probably add some delays in the mailroom
mine reached NSC on July 16th...hopefully i ll recieve it by next week.

Where do you find attorneys like this?? Congrads!!
Can you elaborate on your skill set so we know what is needed to go under the quota of "person with extraordinary ability interest to US".
As I promised earlier I would keep you guys updated on the process of this case.
On saturday I received the welcome as a permanent resident to USA letter. After trying to get a hold of my attorney I got in touch with him.
Heres the story. (this guy is a genius)
I asked him how it was possible when my PD wasn't current I got GC approval.
His answer was funny and pleasant. Magic :D
He said after the approval of my PERM during filing I-140 under EB2 he also filed a petition under "person with extraordinary ability interest to US" on my behalf. So in other words both the petitions were being processed together at USCIS. Me not aware of USCIS rules wasn't aware of all the lingo so didn't know.
Now the Extraordinary ability petition quota is always current. So when my extraordinary petition was approved the attorney informed the USCIS that to adjucate my adjustment based on this approval. Since the PD was current for this category. USCIS processed and approved the GC based on that. I love this guy I don't have to work for my current employer anymore hence he will get a big surprise when I turn in 2 day resignation. HA...

Best place to check this out is here.
http://www.numbersusa.com/hottopic/senateaction0507.html#1
Cantwell is there. May be they did not update their site, but they updated the bill number. The heading says "Background Information on S. 1639, formerly S. 1348"
The word on the street is that the Cantwell amendment is not a part of the list of amendments that are currently floating around in Senate offices. There are 20 of them.
Even Bernie Sanders has one more coming (Yes, it is related to H1B). But Cantwell amendment is not there in the list of 20.
Here is the list of 20:
Democratic Amendments
1199 Dodd Family parent visas
1313 Webb Community ties for Zs
1236 Baucus-Tester Strike all reference to REAL ID
1332 Sanders Employers to certify no mass layoff
1344 Byrd Border security immigration fee
1317 Menendez Increased family points in merit system
1340 Brown Employers post job at state agency
1468 McCaskill Repeat violators who hire undocumented workers
1486 Levin Iraqi religious minority refugees
1386 Leahy Refugee Scholars (may instead be 1289 on EB-5 investors)
------ Schumer Tamper-proof biometric social security card (no language yet)
1198 Boxer Reducing Y visa cap by number of Y workers who overstay
Republican Amendments
1161 Alexander Oath of allegiance for naturalization (may move to managers package)
1255 Bond Prohibits green cards for Z holders
1473 Coleman information sharing/sanctuary cities (Coleman is redrafting, new language not available)
1335/1258 Domenici Federal judgeship increase (redrafting)
1490 Ensign Preclusion of social security benefits
1465 Graham Enforcement, plus other potential agreed upon amendments folded in (redrafting, content not clear)
1441 Grassley-Baucus Obama Strike and replace Title III (small changes possible)
1440 Hutchison Touchback/strike and replace title vi (redrafting)
1174 Thune Probationary legal status triggers
1318 Chambliss Totalization agreement
1282 Isakson Preemption/Home Depot (redrafting)
------ Graham Criminal penalties/mandatory minimums for overstays

As mentioned by some others in the same thread: a lot of employers are also taking advantage of this situation.
i was one of those who was forced to file EB3 despite qualifying very well for EB2. The pretext is job description, although same job description has personnel applied for in EB2.
Quite a few of the EB3 crowd has had no choice, but to be herded in the slowest category to benefit the employer.
How can we highlight this?

I understand - I took it all as a healthy debate, I certainly didn't intend to offend anyone. Its been one of the most interesting debates I've had in a while. Hermione, I sincerely apologize if any of my posts have been interpretted otherwise.
I agree completely with Hermione. Look at the data. It is clear that USCIS is processing applications "quickly" (I quote the "quickly" because I mean relative to other bureaucracies).
The average time for processing (not including NC, since that isn't within USCIS control, is approximately 120 days). The goal is 180 days, so they are meeting targets (you can argue about the target if you like, but in Canada the processing is more like 220 days).
The stupidity of giving more and more money to USCIS to speed-up processing, when they are already meeting the targets can not be overstated. The problem is not with USCIS, it is with the fact that there aren't enough visas, and that NC process can take years. If you want an answer to "the problem" you need to make sure you are asking the right question...
Of course, USCIS management doesn't complain about the additional funds they keep getting (what self respecting bureaucrat would?).
Quite frankly, I have dealt with many bureaucracies in my life, and USCIS is amongst the most efficient I have ever encountered (I am not sure if they are efficient per dollar spent, but ignoring what they cost, they deliver pretty darned good service for a government agency).
If users keep (wrongly) insisting that USCIS is the source of the problem, then congress will keep throwing more money at them (and USCIS will happily accept it), and that little slice of the time that USCIS is responsible for will keep getting smaller, but it won't do you (or me) any good, since the lack of visas is the real problem.

Amit:
I understand your concerns that if there's a huge crowd, nothing will come out of it, in all the din created by the crowd and everyone throwing their suggestions.
Right now the question is hypothetical as we don't have a overwhelming confirmations of 100+! Even a crowd of 25 is okay, if we can reach that number. Since this is the first ever MI level meet, I will be surprised (and happy too) if we cross 25-30.
If it's 100+ a new level of pre-planning will be necessary. Our leaders ( cagedcatcus? chintu25?) will need to book a hall, set a clear and focused agenda (so that we don't lose focus), get IV core to address us by telephone/speaker phones, they can even persuade an Immigration attorney (trying to reach out to future clients) to address our questions etc.. It will be a different ball game! It can be handled effectively without limiting numbers.
I think for first meeting 10-12 are enough. Let us meet and decide upon the strategy to have more people. I would prefer not to have lot of people in the first meeting.

I didnt attend the rally because I thought there isnt much that would come out of it. The expense was too much to fly from CA. However, if it was in the BA I would have gone ...

Please stays away from Syed H Simin PC law firm. They don't answer calls, the receptionist or the front desk phone operator is very rude. Most of them who answer phone calls have a heavy accent , don't know the current immigration procedures or law but still they try to answer your questions. Most of the time they put your call on hold for 15+ mins and hang up on you. Very frustating and totally unprofessional. I wouldn't want to hire them even if they provide service at no charge.
Only 3 people in this firm know how to talk politely and answer your question properly, and they are the actual attorneys. The rest of them in the law office think that they are the DOS chief :) You won't find such kind of people even in a 99c store :D

10/20 is fine with me. Another IV member vs116 has agreed to attend it along with me.
I would prefer - Troy, Rochester, Royal Oak , Sterling Heights, Madison Heights, Utica etc. as long as it's agreeable to the majority. I think we should go by majority of participants.
the problem will be meeting venues and times if we join illinois. we do have ton of H1 people here who are on same boat. Lets try to rally them in.....
I am calling all my friends....
Please keep posting here. Lets target the date 10-20-07. We will meet on that day. We will go over the game plan and decide what comes next.
I live in Sterling heights. Please post where you are at, and once we know all, we will decide a centerpoint for everyone to meet.

Sent 5 more letters to President and copies in one envelope to IV.
Guys this is great, we can all ask our friends and colleagues to sign letters and we can all secure them by paying for the stamps ourselves. I am not sure my husband knows I have shares in the post office now, but I think he would whole-heartedly support it, and he supports what I am doing!
Look at Digital2k's amazing number at the front of this thread, now that is inspiring!!! Come on folks, let's get crazy on this!!! :)
