All the registered members of IV should contribute to make it a big success...If the bills are passed, there will be huge relief and happiness for everyone...
Those who are watching the threads for some success, nothing will happen if we don't contribute and lobby the bills.
Hence please give a hand to IV by CONTRIBUTING for the SUCCESS...
Those who are contributing let's move forward.. I will contribute another $50 at 20K..

My company lawyer did the filing for me and I just followed the same instructions to file for AP renewal for my wife. I did paper filing (trying to save a trip to the USCIS office for photo/fingerprints).
Supporting docs I sent other than I-131
1. $305 check for US Dept of Homeland Security ( write the A# on the "for" part just for safety)
2. 2 photographs ( name and A#s at the back , again for safety, in case the great people in USCIS manage to loose the photo from the application )
3. Valid photo identity ( Passport photo page )
4. I-94 for both me and wife ( I have a valid I-94 from my new H1B extension, wife's has expired, still sent it)
5. I-485 receipt
6. Cover letter ( just stating these docs are attached, and my I-485 pending, please be kind and give me AP ;) yada yada yada ... )
Hope that helps. My lawyer only wanted my passport photo page and I-94. I know people applying for any kind of immigration document tend to send more supporting documents with the belief "more is good", but I believe ( and my law firm supports) USCIS have all the documents in our files, so it's better to send only what is required and not to confuse the USCIS staff with redundant bunch of documents. Just my thoughts, please, no preaching !

Pappu - Thanks for removing the ban!
OP - I honestly feel very sorry for all the people out there who are stuck at PBEC... Its the most unfortunate thing in the whole GC process. And I truly believe that IV Core should treat labor backlog issue as one of their top priority items.
I had filed 2 labor apps in 2004. One from NJ in Jun 2004 and other one from IL in Nov. 2004.. I consider myself lucky to get my IL labor approval. Dont know the status of NJ labor.. I think it might be stuck in backlog too!

Hello,
I'm also in the same situation. My labor is approved May 2007. I'll need to apply for both 140 and 485 together. Can I do it at the same time ?? or do I need to file my 140 immediately and then 485 after a few days. Time is running out now, as we never know when USCIS would again stop accepting 485s. Please advice.
Thanks

I guess it is high time we write USCIS in mass sending a copy to the President’s and Vice president’s office and ask them to take off that Free EADs only for post 30th July filers thing. We should also ask them to give 2 year APs. I am preparig a letter I'm going to send it out soon, also to Congresswoman Zoe Logfren's office...

Hi
I am posting the link for the EAD FAQ available from the USCIS. I still have not received my card but it says online that the approval notice was sent on June 30th....so not sure if its one year or 2 years and if its the actual card or just a notice.
Anyways here is the link.
http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/2yrEAD_FAQ_061208.pdf
Please see the part regarding the validity period of the card and if you believe you got the wrong dates then what needs to be done.
If I am filing for a replacement EAD under 8 C.F.R., Section 274.a.12(c)(9), how long is the EAD valid?
If an individual requests to replace an EAD that has not expired, USCIS will issue a replacement EAD that is valid through the same date as the previously issued EAD. However, if the previous EAD has expired, USCIS will process the request for a renewal EAD and determine the appropriate validity period based on the Department of State Visa Bulletin and the applicants priority date. If USCIS determines that an applicant has filed multiple Forms I-765, the agency may deny the applications for the replacement or renewal EAD.
If I believe I have received an EAD with the wrong validity period or other incorrect information who should I contact?
If you believe that you have received the wrong validity period, you should contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY).
For additional information, or if your application has been approved and you have not received your EAD, please contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY)

Mr. XXXXXX
Dear Mr. XXXXXX:
Thank you for sharing with me your support for comprehensive immigration reform. I appreciate hearing from you and share your concerns.
While the United States cannot afford to absorb all those who want to settle here, we are a nation of immigrants. My mother came to the United States from Lithuania with her parents when she was two years old, and our family created a new life in Illinois. It is a testament to the greatness of this nation that the son of an immigrant can rise to represent the state of Illinois in the Senate.
At the same time, our nation faces a host of problems as a result of years of inattention to our immigration policies. The Homeland Security Department estimates that about 11 million people in the United States do not have legal status, including those who enter the country illegally and those who overstay a temporary visa. I have worked to reform our immigration system comprehensively and in a way that is tough, realistic, and consistent with our moral values.
I recently joined a number of Senators in releasing a blueprint outlining the basic principles that a comprehensive reform bill should include. The measure would improve border security by increasing manpower and deploying new technology. It would strengthen enforcement against employers who hire illegal immigrants. Today, undocumented workers are often exploited by employers who hire them. Strengthening the penalties for employers who hire undocumented workers will ensure that both immigrants and citizens who work here are protected by our wage and labor laws.
If we are serious about reform, we need a realistic approach to the millions of undocumented immigrants who already live and work in our country. We need to offer immigrants who work hard and demonstrate a long-term commitment to be law-abiding, contributing members of our society a chance to pay fines and earn their way to permanent legal status over the course of many years.
If we do not give people who are already a part of our communities the chance to earn their way to legal status, we will not solve the problem of illegal immigration. People who are living here illegally will stay in the shadows instead of coming forward to register.
While immigrants often enrich our communities, an employer's first job offer should go to any American who is willing and able to fill the job. I have been concerned about the potential impact of past proposals for temporary guest worker programs on the American workforce. In many industries, the assured availability of large pools of guest workers will give employers an incentive to pass over American job applicants in favor of foreigners willing to work for less pay and fewer benefits. During the immigration debate, I offered a Hire Americans First amendment to require employers to seek American workers for their open positions before they try to bring in guest workers. I have also introduced legislation to combat abuses in the H-1B visa program.
There is no perfect solution to the problems we face as a result of our broken immigration system. Today, our borders are not secure, our workplace enforcement laws need reform, and our immigration policy fosters a shadow economy for millions of immigrants who simply want to demonstrate that they can be hardworking contributors to the greatness of our country.
I will continue to work for a package of reforms that will protect American workers and that will be tough, enforceable, economically sensible, and morally defensible. I will keep your views in mind as the debate continues. Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Durbin

It is contradicting because you are applying Louisiana Senate Law's and Robert's Rule which is a guide to conduct a board meeting to United States Senate. All three are three different things !!!! Order to lie on the table in the language of United State Senate means "A Negative Position" by the majority.
In any case I agree with what Logiclife has said about these amendments.
I am confused. it is very contradicting.

What do we have to provide for the following question:
Part 7. Complete only if applying for an Advance Parole.
On a separate piece of paper, please explain how you would qualify for an Advance Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of Advance Parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered. (See instructions.)
Also, do we need to send Passport Pictures right away with the application or wait for USCIS letter?
Thanks a lot.

Are they going to redo the amendment process in S.1639 for the already agreed amendment through S.1348?
One change I noticed.
Now people can continue in the old system if the I-140 was approved or pending before the first day of the fiscal year subsequent to the the bill being enacted. So if the bill is passed right away, you need to have filed your I-140 before Oct 1 2007.

absolutely correct. One of the reasons these USCIS crooks did this 485 fiasco is to
1. increase the fee
2. sadistic nature compels them to not give us EAD
Now, you trust these crooks to do the right thing. If they had good intentions they would not have perpetrated the 485 fiasco in the first place.
There will be new VB in Oct and many people will get returned 485 at that time.
Dont dream that USCIS will take all July applications.

I called USCIS and she said based on the information she got from his authorities, she said all the 485 application packets will be rejected with a note saying that , please apply after oct 1st if your PD is current.
I also asked her if you dont send us back by oct 1st what sould we do, she said if I dont receive by August mid, then take infopass and go to local uscis office and request for my application back.
I think all the customer service agents are aware of the issue and got informed what to answer for our questions.
